Hollowbrook Cottages

Beautifully situated within Exmoor National Park, Hollowbrook Cottage is surrounded by National Trust land only 500 yards from the coastal path with majestic views of the highest hog-backed cliffs in Britain and across the Bristol Channel towards Wales. Martinhoe has Bronze Age barrows and the remains of a Roman fortlet, and recently a small section of the Lynton to Barnstaple Steam Railway has reopened at Woody Bay Station.

There are many delightful walks to local beauty spots including Woody Bay and Heddon’s Mouth. You can also visit the Valley of the Rocks, Watersmeet and the unique cliff railway from Lynton to Lynmouth, with its picturesque harbour. Bird watching, fishing and horse riding can all be enjoyed in the vicinity.

Hollowbrook Cottage is ideally located for exploring Exmoor National Park and North Devon. Enjoy the tranquillity of the Park with its high rolling moorland, ancient woodlands, rugged coast, rivers and streams. Follow the Exmoor coast to Porlock, Selworthy and medieval Dunster with its splendid Norman castle. Venture inland to Simonsbath, Exford, Tarr Steps, Doone Valley, Dulverton and Dunkery Beacon.

Meander along the North Devon coast to Woolacombe Bay, the picturesque maritime villages of Appledore and Clovelly, and Hartland Point with its dramatic rocks and views of Lundy Island. Visit historic houses and gardens including Arlington Court, Marwood Hill, Rosemoor and Knightshayes Court. See Dartington Crystal and the ancient town of Barnstaple with its colourful pannier market.

Leave at Junction 27 and take A361 past Tiverton and South Molton. Turn right on to A399 to Blackmoor Gate. Turn right on to A39 past Parracombe to Woody Bay Station and Martinhoe Cross (Old Rectory Hotel sign). Take unclassified road across Martinhoe Common to coastal viewpoint (Old Rectory Hotel sign). Bear left to Martinhoe and The Old Rectory Hotel is the first building on the right next to the church. Hollowbrook Cottage is across the courtyard from The Old Rectory Hotel.
